WHAT IS DIRECT ACCESS COLONOSCOPY?

Direct Access Colonoscopy is a simplified program which allows healthy patients to directly schedule routine screening and surveillance colonoscopies without the need for a pre-procedure office visit.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Healthy patients who are due for either routine screening colonoscopies or surveillance colonoscopies due to a prior history of colon polyps.

WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE?

Patients who are wishing to undergo diagnostic colonoscopies due to pre-existing symptoms of gastrointestinal distress (i.e. unexplained abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, rectal bleeding, etc...).

Patients with serious medical conditions such as Heart Disease (history of heart failure, prior heart attack, defibrillator placement, etc...), patients with severe Lung Disease requiring at home oxygen use, Dialysis patients, patients with serious Neurologic Disease (Seizure Disorder, Advanced Dementia, Prior Stroke, etc...), Pregnant patients, patients on Blood Thinners (Coumadin, Eliquis, Xarelto, etc...) or anti-platelet agents (Plavix, etc...).
